Steve Leung named a 2018 Siebel Scholar

Steve Leung, a fifth-year bioengineering PhD student in Kim Butts Pauly's lab, was named a 2018 Siebel Scholar along with four other Stanford bioengineering PhD students. The scholarship provides one year of funding for graduate students at the end of their PhD.

Steve's research focuses on developing ultrasound beam simulation tools for use in clinical applications, such as high intensity focused ultrasound for non-invasive treatment of essential tremor. Current treatment involves a time-consuming, iterative process of confirming the ablation target with MR thermometry. Developing better simulation tools could help clinicians mor

e quickly target the desired location in the brain as well as predict treatment efficacy a priori.
